Okay to be 'out' in Montana?

There is a guy at our school who is gay and he gets harrassed a lot. People say it's his own fault for letting everyone know he's gay. I don't know what to think, I mean it is Montana and this is a very small town. |

It's ok to not agree with his lifestyle, but to make snide remarks and torment him is wrong. |

I feel like being gay should not be a reason to be harrassed or bullied regardless of location. If excuses are made because 'it's rural Montana' there will not be a change in the negativeness associated with homosexuality. |

Gays should not be harrassed because of their sexuality. Who you are is how it is and it is not his fault, if he is gay he should be happy at least he's being himself. Just be a friend and tell him that you're there for him. Also stand up against the kids picking on him. |
